Centre for Eating and Dieting Disorders
The NSW Centre for Eating and Dieting Disorders (CEDD) is an academic and service support centre based in Sydney, Australia resulting from collaboration between the University of Sydney and Sydney South West Area Health Service. It is funded by the Mental Health and Drug & Alcohol Office, NSW Department of Health.
CEDD offers live and online training programs for workers in the identification and management of eating disorders. It also provides support and guidance for primary and secondary health agencies in the development of services for people with eating disorders. Telemedicine and referral assistance are available by phone or email, and an online database of private and public practitioners and services across NSW is supported. A website and online library of assessment and treatment guidelines and key articles are maintained. CEDD is also engaged to provide advice to the NSW Government on matters relating to eating disorders. CEDD fosters research into eating disorders, and support for people caring for sufferers. Children’s Hospital Westmead
The Eating Disorder Service at the Children's Hospital at Westmead (CHW) in Sydney, provides comprehensive inpatient and outpatient treatment for children and adolescents with eating disorders. Based in Adolescent Medicine in conjunction with Psychological Medicine, the Eating Disorder Service provides joint medical and psychiatric assessments of new patients with ongoing individual and family work by Psychosocial team.
Intensive Maudsley Family Based Treatment is provided for families whose adolescent has been in the eating disorder inpatient program upon discharge. Group Programs and Family Admissions are also provided.
Centre for Research into AdolescentS Health (CRASH)
The Centre for Research into Adolescents’ Health, situated within the Department of Adolescent Medicine at Westmead Hospital aims to contribute to the improved health of young Australians in various ways:
- By conducting or supporting quality research, particularly in the fields of eating disorders, attention deficit hyperactivity disorder, physical activity and overweight, sexual and reproductive health, and access to primary health care.
- Informing policy development to at the school, area health service, local, state and national government levels, and by non-government organisations to promote good clinical and public health practice and provide a foundation for constructive advocacy.
- Supporting the health literacy of young people,
- Contributing to the education of the community, undergraduates, post-graduate students and to continuing education among all professionals who work with young people

The Australia and New Zealand Academy of Eating Disorders
(ANZAED) is the peak body representing and supporting the activities of all professionals working in the field of eating disorders and related issues. ANZAED represents professionals working at the level of prevention, treatment, and research into the broad spectrum of eating disorders.
ANZAED provides opportunities for members' collegial interaction and sharing of knowledge and resources. ANZAED aims to work for improved services and care, further research and understanding in the area of Eating Disorders, and to work co-operatively and in partnership with similar bodies internationally, notably our 'sister' organisation the international Academy of Eating Disorders (AED).
