Goals of Training Day
  • Increase understanding of clinical challenges in the eating disorders.
  • Learn about applications of the “Stages of Change” Model to the management of eating disorder patients.
  • Become familiar with current research on readiness and motivation for change.
  • Obtain practical experience in Motivational Interviewing.
  • Identify four therapist styles and reflect on helpful and hindering aspects of one’s own style.
  • Understand differences between a “readiness based” and “traditional” model of care.
  • Learning and applying a philosophy of care that includes treatment non-negotiables.

  • Specialist points approved for member of the Clinical, Health & Counselling colleges.
  • Members of other APS Colleges and non-College members may claim the equivalent generalist points.
  • Upon submission of post-workshop evaluation activities, APS members will receive a certifcate of completion.
  • Note that APS does not accept or process Attendance Lists as responsibility for tracking and logging PD points rests with individual members.
  • The 12 points should be logged on members' individual log sheets.
