Public Services

NSW is divided into 8 Area Health Services (AHS).  If you are accessing the Public System, for the most part you need to access services within your Area Health Service.  There are some hospitals treating Eating Disorders that take people from out of area which are addressed in the section Statewide Services as well as under their home AHS (e.g. RPA and Westmead Hospitals).  Hence please click on the Area Health Service below or to the left that covers your place of residence to find services you can access.

The NSW Public Health system operates a number of services which include treatment components for people with eating disorders. Services may be inpatient, outpatient or day-stay - that is, where clients attend the service for the whole day including some meals, but sleep at home. Eating disorder treatment services can be co-located within general medical, mental health, adult or child & adolescent settings and the services they offer and the types of clients they treat differ accordingly.
