Creative Art Therapy Program
The Butterfly Foundation is pleased to announce an exciting opportunity in Sydney for people who are coping with an eating disorder.
The weekly “Creative Art Therapy Program” is due to start in August 2010.Art therapy is a healing process that uses creativity to help you express deeply personal thoughts and feelings, in a safe, supportive non-judgemental environment.
Art is a different way to communicate where language does not interfere. You are invited to dip your toes into the waters of your own creativity. Using a wide range of artistic forms including drawing, painting, collage, masks and journaling to gently travel within and explore your inner world allowing new insight, understanding and healing. There are no rules, no right or wrong, you just use the materials in whichever way feels right at the time.
Weekly groups are a great way to use Art therapy processes, over a consistent period of time, in order to deepen your self-inquiry. It is also a chance to commit some time each week to reflect, facilitate self awareness and re-energise your inspiration. No artistic ability is required; it is suitable for all eating disorder sufferers, regardless of art experience or age.
Creative Art therapy, unlike traditional art, focuses on the process of creating the artwork and not the end result.
"Let creativity help you solve problems, face challenges and become a part of the fabric of your daily life. "Sandra Magsamen
